Read first

This blog is not for the faint at heart. If you wish to delve into what I'm facing, you are welcome to read. Primarily, it is for me. And this blog will ideally allow me to keep informed my family and framily about my current state of health. There will likely be unpleasantness and quite possibly some photos...and likely I wont know what I write until it is typed.

One week post surgery Surgeon visit

Last week's visit to Dr. Ting went well. She said I seemed to be healing beautifully. She was able to take the drain out, with the understanding that I might swell a bit more and it might take a bit of time for the swelling to be fully re-absorbed. Both of those are completely worth having the drain removed! I feel the ease of movement I've experienced due to the drain being removed is quite astounding.

Over this past weekend, I stopped the OxyCodone. I still have some pain, it seems to be lessened by Advil and marijuana. As a side note, the OxyCodone didn't lessen any of the RSD pain in my foot.

I still have sensitivities around the incision area. The incision goes from center mass to the center of my armpit. Some days are easier than others as is always the case. Most days I'm able to get some things done. I'm heating up my own food now, making almond milk, smoothies, and lattes. I've washed dishes, folded laundry, and watered the plants. I've taken walks around the block and up to get the mail. I have begun driving again. Seat belts are still not made for my size person, so that is classically where I end up feeling the most pain. A close second is opening bottles. Come to think of it, lifting any weight more than a couple pounds and opening doors can be challenging. Still, the mobility is getting better day by day!

The next time I see Dr. Ting will be a month post op.
