Read first

This blog is not for the faint at heart. If you wish to delve into what I'm facing, you are welcome to read. Primarily, it is for me. And this blog will ideally allow me to keep informed my family and framily about my current state of health. There will likely be unpleasantness and quite possibly some photos...and likely I wont know what I write until it is typed.

Six out of seven aint bad...

We have our medical team almost complete. We have six out of the seven we feel we need to make it through all this cancer stuff.

Here's my list:

Naturpathic Oncologist: Dr. Allderdice, Sage Cancer Center, Portland, OR

Oncologist: Dr. Solti, Compass Oncology, Vancouver, WA

Surgeon: Dr. Ting, Bridgetown Surgical Clinic, Portland, OR

Neurologist: OHSU, still waiting for them to schedule an appointment with someone familiar with RSD.

Pranaji Daom LAc, Ayurvedic, Oriental Medicine, and food as medicine, San Diego, CA

Craniosacral: Dr. Sharon Woodard, Cedar Creek Naturopathic Care, she is in the process of changing her location.

Primary Care: Jennifer Andreson, NP, Adventist Health, Clackamas

I feel confident we have the right people so far. I truly believe in their abilities and their knowledge.  Most importantly, I appreciate that they will care for me and listen to me, my body, and Jeff. I feel this is the perfect team.

The current treatment plan, based on all the results we have right now, is to have surgery first. I will have a complete (hopefully a simple) mastectomy. They will run the oncotype test from the tissue removed at the time of surgery. If the oncotype results come back 25 or less, then we will skip the chemotherapy and radiation. If the test comes back above 25, then we will talk about options then.

This is the latest. I have begun the body prep by cutting out all refined sugars and sweets, by taking out the dairy that causes me to form more mucus, and by adding dark green leafy things to pretty much every meal. I have also begun taking the herbs that the Naturopathic Oncologist recommended. I'm going to include the list here, so you can see.

So far, so good.

7:30am     Armour Thyroid, Rx
9:00am     HLC, high potency probiotic
9:00am     Daily Multi Vitamin
9:00am     Vitamin B Complex
9:00am     AHCC, Mushroom Mycelia Extract
11:00am   BCQ, Boswellia serrata, Bromelain, Curcuma longa Rhizome, Quercetin dihydrate
12:00pm   Vitamin D
2:00pm     BCQ
5:00pm     AHCC
7:00pm     BCQ
9:00pm     Amitriptyline, Rx
10:00pm   Vitamin C
10:00pm    Ferrous Sulfate
10:00pm    Magnesium
11:00pm    Melitonin

I have been keeping track of what I take, when I take it by an app on my phone (Medisafe), by the silent alarms on my fitbit, by the alarms set on my phone (set for 5 minutes after the silent alarms), and by a simple method, shown in the picture, of placing all my meds each morning in beautiful Turkish tea glasses that have the time I take them on masking tape. Once I take the cup full, I turn it upside down. I also have the time of day and amount labled on the lid of each herb/Rx bottle. This makes filling the glasses each day an easy process. When I travel, I have travel pill containters with the time of day on each section. So far, the 5 point system is working well. I have enough reminders to keep me honest and on time.

I like having a plan.
